Getting started with home care is the first step towards better health.
The challenges of aging and the needs associated with them can be daunting and worrisome. Looking the other way and hoping situations will change is not realistic and can intensify the issues. There is rarely a single strategy when confronting an event like care giving. Increased mobility and changes in family structure and roles have made it difficult for people to assume responsibility.
You are ten steps ahead of the average person if you have discussed care planning with your family. The time to make decisions is upon you and indeed it is a difficult place. We understand and look forward to sharing our care of distinction and professional services which are designed to give you the peace of mind you deserve.
Wellness & Prevention
Prehabilitation Beats Rehabilitation
The old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” has never been more true than in the life of a senior. We know the value of wellness and prevention so we provide a special program to help keep seniors as healthy as possible. Our specialty trained Wellness Care Coaches know how to help seniors maintain a balanced routine of nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle, plus help motivate them to stick with it!
We teach our clients how to take personal responsibility for their own health and wellness. This is an important way they can help prevent a health crisis and avoid becoming an unnecessary burden to their friends and family.
Let us show you with just a few visits each week by our Wellness Care Coach that your senior loved can start enjoying a healthier, happier lifestyle.
The Brain Needs Exercise Too!
Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer’s is a disease that attacks the brain and is the most common form of dementia, but there are many others.
Our exclusive Cognitive Health Program is designed to help strengthen a senior’s mind, improve their health, and their outlook on life. Our program also emphasizes socialization, activities, diet, and exercise as important co-factors that contribute to overall cognitive health and well-being.
So whether your senior family member is already showing signs of cognitive decline or not, let us show you the critical difference exercising the brain can make.
*Elder Care at Home of Virginia Beach is proud to support the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Transitioning Home Safely
“Welcome Home” Never Felt Better
If you’ve ever been in the hospital or a rehab facility, did you know that the first 10-12 weeks back home are the most critical of all and represent the period when most re-admissions occur?
Transitioning back home safely can also be quite a challenge because most patients are under the false impression that “Home Health” (paid for by Medicare) will provide them with what they need when they get home. Home Health only provides skilled medical services that typically include just 2-3 visits per week for a limited length of time.
Who will prepare your meals, do your laundry, help you get dressed, attend to your bathing and hygiene, help keep you from falling, run errands, and do light housekeeping? Well, that’s where we come in!
We’ll not only get you back home safely and provide you with all these important personal and homemaking services, and more, but our Safety Net Program will also help prevent your re-admission. Let us show you how good Welcome Home can feel!
