Two years in Metabolic Research at Massachusetts General Hospital was followed by an offer to work in the Heart Institute at The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., furthering her interest in research. She was awarded a fellowship to study Nursing Supervision at Boston University School of Nursing and simultaneously worked as a Medical-Surgical Supervisor at Mass General Hospital, Baker Pavilion.
